This session will consider the expanding roles within modern physiotherapy with particular reference to the Physiotherapy Consultant role. This will clarify both the depth and breadth of that role, ideal for enhancing understanding, especially for those aspiring to this position in the future. This will then be contextualised within the Musculoskeletal Triage Service in the Modern NHS and will incorporate the impact of the new NICE guidelines for Low Back Pain and how these will affect management of LBP.

Speaker for Session
Johan Holte qualified in Belgium in 1997. After a Post Graduate in Orthopaedic Manual Therapy he enrolled at Curtin University (2002) and completed his Master in Manipulative Therapy. An article was published in Manual Therapy in 2004. After various NHS positions he started as a Physiotherapy Consultant at Kings College Hospital in 2006. Besides running a Musculoskeletal Triage service, he also is responsible for audit and research in the department.
